Story told by Aflatoun Partner
In Nyarubuye public school in Karongi, children who are involved in the Aflatoun programme, set up a club with elected members and save together collectively. With their savings in hand, the children thought of creating a business to try to make a profit for themselves.
With their initial savings, they decided to invest in buying thread and in their spare time they made ropes out of them. They found a market that needed this product: they sell them to goat breeders who use them to secure their animals. This has further motivated these students to continue with Aflatoun activities and small businesses.
